finding my next job etc.

I'm meeting Kim for a quick happy hour drink at Moe before dinner.
Tonight I'm going down the street to the Showbox to see Pinback.

Time Square

With Sharlese.

Foals

Foals took the stage and spent the first ten minutes or so
soundchecking and apologizing for running late. About 60 people showed
up for the performance and it was nothing short of epic. Sure we've
heard this kind of math before, but these guys are off to a great
start. It was definitely worth the price of admission.

We didn't get out of the club until 2 am which meant that we didn't
make it to the Black Kids show and with jet lag and a cold I was
pretty wrecked anyhow.

Skull hand

We're in Williamsburg to see Foals. This place is empty, but I've been
assured that it'll be worth the $14.

Last bed in France

Tonight I get the last real bed that ok likely to encounter for the
remainder of the week. You see, New York encountered an unusual
outbreak of bed bugs and as a result most the spare beds in the city
had to be burned. As a result aerobed, self-agrandicizing mattresses,
sales went through the roof. I will never turn my nose up at an
aerobed, but all the same, it isn't quite as nice as a real bed.

Cindy and Jean-Michel gave me their bed for the night. They rock my
world with their kindness. I have wonderful friends.

Best bed yet

I forgot to post this and I totally forgot to photograph my bed Au Mas
yesterday. I'm pretty bad at keeping this blog up.

Anyhow, this was my bed at the chateau. Since I didn't let my friends
know that I was coming until the last minute, I ended getting set up
in a shared room with Cindy's father, who I hadn't met in my prior
visits. Due to a last minute cancelation I was given my own huge room
overlooking the courtyard. It was for lack of a better word, sweet.

Each room had the name of some nobleman on the door. Mine read
Béatrice de Bourgogne.

Cindy and the beer

A half liter

This beer, a Belgian Leffe, was served in a goblet that was nearly as
big as my head. It was delicious.

Walking

I spent the day walking and people watching in parks and public
squares. Lyon has a lot if great places for one to pass hours doing
nothing but enjoying the great weather.

Since I've been here several times I didn't walk to see the sites. I
wandered through the old streets of Lyon to draw out memories. It was
such a peaceful way to pass a Monday.

I'm in bed getting ready to sleep for the last time in France for who
knows how long and I'm already starting to miss it. My French was just
starting to feel somewhat natural again and off I go.

Well, I'm thankful for the time that I had here. It was wonderful to
spend time with my French family and friends and ok looking forward to
the next time.

Les bandes dessinés

The French are really into graphic novels. I snapped this shot of
teenagers reading in the FNAC. There was free wifi in the store. I've
been on the look out for wifi. I'm currently standing outside of a
travel store using their wifi.

7 - 8 ciel

I parted ways with my former host mother, Annie, and her
granddaughter, Clothilde this morning in Saint Chamond. They were
going to work at the local maternelle school (I saw this painted on
the playground).

I took the train to Lyon to check out the city for the day. I hoped to
rent a bike. This city has instituted a public bicycle rental system,
but unfortunately it doesn't work with American credit cards. So, it
looks like I'll be hoofing it today.

I have no real plans, so I'll just see where the city takes me.
